From the car park of the Roman city Carnuntum in Petronell-Carnuntum, the path starts towards Bad Deutsch-Altenburg. The landscape windows along the way provide insights through models into times when Carnuntum was a flourishing Roman civilian and military city with many thousands of inhabitants.
In Bad Deutsch-Altenburg, various places to stop and rest are available. The Carnuntinum Museum, the largest Roman museum in Austria, presents the history of the city and its life in the newly opened 2022 exhibition "Carnuntum - World City on the Danube Limes." From Bad Deutsch-Altenburg and also from Hainburg, you can take the S7 for the return trip to the starting point.
From here to Hainburg, the Roman emperor and philosopher Marcus Aurelius is portrayed in several quotes. The route passes an abandoned quarry at the upper end of which stands the Romanesque church of Bad Deutsch-Altenburg. Passing under the Danube bridge, we arrive at Hainburg and at the end of the path by the Kulturfabrik.
