Kremstal-Donau long-distance trail 06: Gedersdorf - Rohrendorf (shortcut)

The hike leads through terraced vineyards from Gedersdorf to the Rohrendorf cellar lane. The impressive landscape along the route is the highlight, as the route offers not only extensive vineyards but also the best regional wines for tasting. After all, Rohrendorf near Krems is a traditional site of vine cultivation – wine has been grown there for more than 1,000 years. The Rohrendorf cellar lane is also the longest of its kind in all of Austria and attracts wine lovers from all over the world with its 72 wine presses and cellar tunnels. Therefore, it is worthwhile to visit one or the other Heuriger at the stage destination to conclude the enjoyable hike accordingly.

Provisions tip: The short distance is well suited for relaxed hikers and families with children. Once in Rohrendorf, you can refill your hiking backpack with some regional delicacies at the Nah&Frisch Markt Ebner (MO-FR 6-12:30 and 15-18 h, SA 6:30-12 h) if you decide to walk back.
