The stage starts in the center of Krems at Hoher Markt and leads westward, past the high medieval city castle “Gozzoburg” and the parish church of St. Veit, also called the “Cathedral of the Wachau.” We go left down into Obere Landstraße and then right towards Steiner Tor. At Steiner Tor, part of the former city wall and today’s landmark of Krems, we leave the pedestrian zone. We walk along the city park, over Schiller- and Und-Straße past the UND monastery and the former Capuchin monastery, to the Kunstmeile Krems and the 2019 opened Lower Austria State Gallery, the architectural cube. At the end of Steiner Landstraße, we reach the Danube embankment. Over the listed steel truss bridge, the “Mautern Bridge,” we reach the Roman town Mautern on the southern Danube bank, where the stage ends at Mautern town hall.
