Permanent path closure between Tanzeiche and the junction of Zimmerplatzweg and the Great Orther Circular Hiking Trail. Some of the yellow signposts have therefore been dismantled in the area and the Orther Rundwanderweg has been re-signposted. The section of the trail parallel to the Fadenbachrunde is also permanently closed (this also partially affects the Alter Uferweg - blue markings) - the detour (yellow and blue markings) is via the parallel trail towards the protective dam.
The first section of the trail after the national park gate follows a forest road on the left. The adjacent forest is a hardwood forest, with the North American black walnut still bearing witness to the former forestry management. At a fork in the path, take the right-hand path that leads along meadows back towards the forest. Along the following section of the path, you will see two small wooden bridges for crossing the ditches, which are filled by leaking groundwater during floods. After a few hundred meters, you reach the flood protection dam, cross it and enter the floodplain, which is flooded during high water. The path leads through a fairly young stand of oak trees and along a side arm (Kleine Binn) where, with a bit of luck, pond turtles can be observed. Beavers live in their burrows on both sides, create steep slides into the water and leave their traces on the bank vegetation. The kingfisher then finds good perches on fallen trees. You then pass the southern edge of the animal meadow, where comfrey and other medicinal plants bloom in early summer, and follow the wide forest road to the Fadenbach stream. Along the oxbow lake inland, you reach the dam again, cross it and take the subsequent path back to the national park entrance.
