    The Schachner family's "Krone & Kaiserhof" in Maria Taferl is recommended as one of the best vacation addresses on the Danube. Culinary guests have always been in good hands here anyway. The lift ride up to the terrace of the Sky Lounge is an experience in itself, offering breathtaking views across the Danube and far into the Alpine foothills. Just a few kilometers from the Wachau, the two hotels offer cozy comfort. Panoramic and Premium bon-vivant rooms with Danube views, indoor penthouse pool (11 x 5 m) with whirlpool and sunbathing area, outdoor pool (20 x 10 m) in its own large park, aroma grotto, sauna, organic herbal sauna, fitness room, solarium and massages round off the offer. The running route starts below the Hotel Schachner - Krone and leads around the idyllic village of Maria Taferl and the golf course.

    The start and finish of this varied 3,880 m loop are at the garden exit of the Hotel Krone Schachner.
    With a magnificent view of the Danube, we run off to the left. After 380 m we turn right and run below the hotel on slightly sloping terrain in the forest. After exactly 1 km we briefly come to asphalt and run slightly uphill. After just over 100 m, we turn left onto the hiking trail and continue our relaxed walk on varied terrain. At the end of the path, we turn left and walk 200 m on asphalt. We continue around the golf course.
    At km 3, we have two route options:
    Option 1: We turn right to run the final section of the 3,880 m long, picturesque loop.
    Option 2: We turn left and run a marked detour in the forest (1,100 m there and back) to extend the total distance to 6,080 m.
    With a view of the Danube, we run back to the start and finish point at Hotel Krone Schachner on the last section of this wonderful running circuit.

    Start und Ziel der abwechslungsreichen 3.880 m langen Runde befinden sich beim Gartenausgang des Hotel Krone Schachner.
    Mit großartigem Blick auf die Donau laufen wir nach links weg. Nach 380 m biegen wir nach rechts ab und laufen unterhalb des Hotels auf leicht fallendem Terrain im Wald. Nach genau 1 km kommen wir kurz auf Asphalt und laufen leicht steigend bergauf. Schon nach etwas mehr als 100 m biegen wir links auf den Wanderweg ein und laufen nun auf abwechslungsreichem Terrain entspannt weiter. Am Ende des Weges laufen wir links 200 m auf Asphalt. In weiterer Folge umrunden wir den Golfplatz.
    Bei Km 3 haben wir zwei Möglichkeiten der Streckenwahl:
    Variante 1: Wir biegen rechts ab, um das Schlussstück der 3.880 m langen, malerischen Runde zu belaufen.
    Variante 2: Wir biegen links ab und laufen einen markierten Abstecher im Wald (je 1.100 m hin und retour) um somit die Gesamtstrecke auf 6.080 m auszudehnen.
    Mit Blick auf die Donau laufen wir am letzten Teilstück der herrlichen Laufrunde wieder zurück zum Start- und Zielpunkt beim Hotel Krone Schachner.

    Autobahnabfahrt Pöchlarn – über die Donaubrücke nach Klein Pöchlarn – durch Klein Pöchlarn donauaufwärts bis Ortsende Klein Pöchlarn – rechts abbiegen – noch ca. 3 km bis Maria Taferl.

    Mit der ÖBB reisen Sie bis zur Zughaltestelle Pöchlarn an - Fahrplanabfrage. Vom Bahnhof kommen Sie mit dem Bus nach Maria Taferl - Fahrplanauskunft.

    Von Wien oder Salzburg kommend:  Autobahnabfahrt Pöchlarn - über die Donaubrücke nach Klein Pöchlarn - durch Klein Pöchlarn donaufauwärts - bis Ortsende Klein Pöchlarn rechts abbiegen - noch ca. 3 km bis Maria Taferl.
