Under the motto "Small places – big stories", selected local walks in Römerland Carnuntum and Marchfeld lead along partly unknown paths to historic buildings and old walls, through beautiful nature and hidden alleys.

The Fischaturm with the golden fish on the top is well known to many. But we promise: During the Fischamend local walk you will be amazed again and again. Who would have suspected that princes and ministers dined here, Alma Mahler's grandfather operated a spinning mill, the mysterious knights Templar had a seat, and the largest aviation research institute of the monarchy was located here?

To discover the Carnuntum-Marchfeld local walks, simply download the "Ortsspaziergänge" app on your smartphone, either online as a WebApp or as a native app, where no internet connection is needed on site. Your position is shown on a map during the walk – so you always stay on the right path! Google Play Store or App Store

    Roadbook

The city walk starts at the impressive Fischaturm, where the first audio story "How Fischamend got its name" awaits. Then you head towards Gregerstraße and follow the directional arrows for orientation. You walk along Gregerstraße and then turn right into Fehrgasse. You quickly reach the so-called "Three Bridges," where all arms of the Fischa converge. More about this is told in the second audio story "Fischamend – the city of mills." Then you follow the path along the bridges until you arrive at the third audio story "Fischamender industrial goods – known all over the world" at the Fehrgasse/Klein Neusiedler Straße junction – an information board provides further details here. After the exciting story, you follow the directional arrow to the left into Klein Neusiedler Straße. Now you partly walk along a meadow path to the edge of the town. No worries, the path is correct, as occasional signposts confirm. Passing a horse ranch, you continue a bit further on Klein Neusiedler Straße before the directional arrow points left towards Kleine Au and Gutshof Rottner. At the bridge, you take a short break and listen to the audio story "The mysterious past of Gutshof Rottner." Now you keep right, always along the Fischa. At the bend of the Fischa, the fifth audio story "Water, forest, and well-being" awaits, and a bench invites you to rest. Then you follow the path to the nearby fish ladder, where the directional arrow points left. At the next large fork, you go right towards the bridge. Upon arrival, you hear the sixth story with the exciting title "The ghost countess of Fischamend." At the end of Weiselstraße, you follow the directional arrow left and walk along Gregerstraße. A little further on, a directional arrow to the right appears, and you turn into Springholzgasse. At the Dr. Cermak Education Center, the penultimate audio story "Fischamend writes aviation history" awaits. Then you follow Springholzgasse to the end and turn left into Enzersdorfer Straße. Straight ahead is the Grain Square, recognizable by the small park and playground. There you find the last audio story "The busy Grain Square." At the end of Enzersdorfer Straße, turn left into Hainburger Straße and quickly reach the starting point, the Fischaturm.
